Driver Independent Contractor Agreement

Last updated: February 2026

This is a plain-language starting draft. Have local counsel review it before launch.

1. Independent contractor status

You perform delivery services as an independent contractor. Nothing in this agreement creates an employment relationship. You control your own schedule, routes, and equipment.

2. Fair-pay formula

You are paid Base + Mileage + Time + 100% of consumer tips for every delivery you complete. Base and per-mile rates are published in the Driver Dashboard and may be updated with notice.

3. Payouts

Payouts are processed weekly via Stripe Connect Express. You are responsible for connecting a valid bank account and completing Stripe onboarding.

4. Vehicle & insurance

You must maintain a valid driver's license, safe vehicle, and any insurance coverage required by Illinois law for commercial or delivery driving.

5. Conduct

You will comply with traffic laws, deliver promptly, treat consumers and merchants respectfully, and follow food-safety handoff protocol. Repeated complaints or safety violations may end your driver status.

6. Taxes

You are responsible for your own taxes. Locally Starved will provide a 1099 when required by IRS rules.

7. Deactivation

Either party may end this agreement at any time. Serious safety issues result in immediate deactivation.

8. Governing law

Illinois law governs. Venue: LaSalle County.
